About Us
With a mantra of "fueling quality music", Avitone Recordings was founded by Grammy Award winning artist Jody Watley in 1995. Decades later the "home" of the Pop and R&B Icon has developed a solid reputation for stellar releases in the realms of Dance/Electronic and R&B Music. Working with some of the world's most innovative producers, remixers and tastemakers, Avitone remains steadfast in its committment to broadening its reach on the global independent scene.
In May 2009 Avitone entered into a distribution agreement with ADA Global based in London for all territories excluding the US. Avitone has successfully licensed music to a diverse array of global clients including: Universal Japan, Ministry of Sound, Peace Bisquit, Gut UK, Hed Kandi, AVEX, Chillifunk, Sony BMG Special Products, Giant Step, and Shanachie among others. Our music has also been placed on the popular MTV LOGO Network show 'Noah's Arc', The Elevate Film Festival, and REVLON.com.
In 2006, embracing the new and changing paradigms of the music industry, Avitone partnered with the VIRGIN MEGASTORE retail chain, for the exclusive release of Watley's 9th solo full length 'THE MAKEOVER'.
Debuting for the chain at #1 and remaining in their Top Ten for weeks. This unique deal was a successful foray into a new era of music distribution and the endless possibilities for independent artists and boutique labels.
Avitone seeks to further expand upon strategic partnerships, music licensing, commercial placement, and other multi media opportunities.
